Tas 1 Non-Combustible Roof Coverings

TAS 1.1 PERFORMANCE PROVISIONS

Performance Requirements

A Class 1 building must be protected from the spread of fire from air-borne embers from other property by the provision of a non-combustible roof covering.

Application

Application:

The Performance Requirement Provisions of TAS 1.1 only apply to areas not in a designated bushfire prone area.

Non-combustible roofing

A roof covered with any of the following materials satisfies the Performance Requirements of Tas 1.1.

(a)

Metal sheeting or tiles.

(b)

Slates.

(c)

Terracotta or cement roofing tiles.

(d)

Fibre cement sheeting or shingles.

(e)

Asphalt shingles except on buildings with rise in storeys exceeding 2.

(f)

Built-up roofing covered with non-combustible material.

(g)

Concrete, granolithic, terrazzo, cement mortar, or other similar non-combustible materials.
