This Part sets out requirements for the design, construction, installation, replacement, repair, alteration and maintenance of any part of a fire-fighting water service from the point of connection or other acceptable source(s) of supply to the fire-fighting equipment, including hydrant, hose reel, sprinkler services and wall drencher systems.

The Objective of this Part is to—

Fire-fighting equipment must be provided with adequate water for its intended purpose.
A fire-fighting water service must ensure the following:
Water is provided at required flow rates and pressures for the correct functioning of the fire-fighting equipment.
Accessfor maintenance of mechanical components and operational controls.
The system can be isolated for testing and maintenance.
A fire-fighting water service must avoid uncontrolled discharge or failure.
There are no Verification Methods in this Part.
Performance RequirementBP4.1 is satisfied by complying with B4.2.
Fire-fighting water services for Class 2 to Class 9 buildings and structures must comply with the requirements of Part E1 in Volume One of the NCC.
The installation of a fire-fighting water service must be in accordance with—
AS/NZS 3500.1; and
where applicable—
FPAA101H; or
FPAA101D.
