Recommendation 3 of the Building Confidence Report(BCR) is that each jurisdiction requires all practitioners to undertake compulsory continuing professional (CPD) on the National Construction Code (NCC).

In response, the BCR Implementation Team has developed draft national model guidance to assist governments and industry in regulating and delivering nationally consistent CPD on the NCC. It is intended that CPD on the NCC be mandatory for all registered building and plumbing practitioners

Feedback on the draft model guidance is now sought via a discussion paper. The paper explores and proposes content for inclusion in the model guidance, in the form of 6 principles. The 6 principles cover matters relating to the number of CPD hours on the NCC to be undertaken annually to what types of CPD are considered acceptable.

Responses to the consultation will inform the final national model guidance which will be considered by Building Ministers toward the end of the year.

Responses to questions in the discussion paper are invited until 11:59 PM AEST Sunday 5 September 2021.
