“I’ve almost finished my first rotation of the ABCB Cadetship program and I am learning something new every day. I’ve had the opportunity to witness, and take part in, a range of projects so far and am looking forward to seeing what the rest of the program can help me learn. Working at the ABCB has allowed me to meet so many people with different career backgrounds, including careers I didn’t know were possible.” Current Cadet Sophey-Ann, Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management), NSW.

Along with learning about the NCC and working on real-life projects, the Cadetship program also provides the opportunity to gain valuable Australian Public Service experience while working within the ABCB office in Canberra.

“Canberra is definitely not what I expected! After moving from Melbourne where I’d spent the last year in lockdown, Canberra has been a breath of fresh air and the change of pace I was looking for.

Working at the ABCB where everyone has been so welcoming and friendly has made settling in super easy. Working in different teams within the office gives great opportunity to learn about the many different aspects of the construction and plumbing industries. Over the 3 months I’ve spent at the ABCB, I have already become much more confident not only in my understanding of the NCC, but general professional etiquette and communications. So far the cadetship has shown me how many career opportunities there are within the industry. I feel that the year I am spending in Canberra and at the ABCB will help me find the right path.” Current cadet Lily Molendijk, Victoria.

  • a 12-month contract role
