The ABCB has modernised the 2019 edition of the NCC. You’ll be able to access relevant resources and guidance material, and navigate it much easier than ever before.
What’s changed for NCC 2019?
The ABCB’s digitisation project is focusing on improving and enhancing NCC access and understanding through new and refreshed technologies. We want to ensure we’re doing all we can to help you understand the Code whilst considering the range of abilities and needs of our users.
To help with this, we’ve improved the functionality, navigation and search-ability of the online Code. This means that whether you are reading Volume One, Two or Three you can easily find what you are looking for.
The NCC’s digital platform offers intuitive online functionality, ease of use, a favourites tab and ‘share-ability’. While we don’t want to bore you with ‘fun facts’ there’s a few things you should know about the enhanced NCC:
- it's been built for mobility and accessibility requirements;
- includes visual improvements such as changing navigation links to remove title case for easier reading; and re-configuring explanatory and guidance information, including State and Territory variations to ‘pop-up’ windows which helps avoid navigating away from the main content;
- linking of relevant support materials, such as handbooks, calculators, infographics etc. to the related section in each volume.
- limited navigation levels to 2 clicks (in most cases);
- search improvements – including filtering of search results; and
- pre-set filtering of content for each volume to highlight Governing and Performance Requirements.
This is just the start of the new functionality capabilities that you will experience with the new NCC online, expected to be available in early March.
We’ve also introduced a new look. In the last edition of Connect we gave you a sneak preview of the new NCC branding.
Looking for the Guide to Volume One?
With the new NCC online, one of the most significant changes you’ll notice when you first log in is that the Guide to Volume One is now part of the related resources within Volume One itself. It’s also directly linked to the related section. Don’t worry, we’ve still retained a PDF version if you prefer to use it this way!
We want your feedback
We’re inviting NCC users to provide feedback on all aspects of the digital NCC. If you find a broken link or incorrect reference, or simply have a suggestion on how we can improve the online NCC experience please let us know. We have set up a dedicated email address (NCCOnline-feedback@abcb.gov.au) for this purpose.
Are you prepared?
Update your registration
From 28 January, you’ll see changes to your NCC registration profile. That’s because we’re improving the information you can receive from us. Through your NCC registration, more relevant Industry Sector selections and new ‘Area of Interest’ options are available. Based on this, we’ll send you NCC-related information that interests most.
Planned website maintenance
In preparation for the release of the NCC 2019 preview, the ABCB website will be undergoing maintenance from 4.00pm (AEDT) Thursday 24 January to Monday 28 January (inclusive). During this time visitors will not be able to access the website, submit NCC clarifications, download resources or view the NCC. We thank you for your patience during this time.
